JENNY BRAKE

Peer Facilitator

Hailing from Corner Brook, NL, Jenny is a Mi’kmaq woman with strong cultural roots. Jenny’s smile lights up the room. She has a kindness about her that is infectious. She is humble, nurturing and cares deeply for her community and the people that need her the most. She is a fighter. She loves her family more than life itself and has risen above to be a strong advocate for women. Jenny is a Peer Facilitator with the Empowering Indigenous Women for Stronger Communities project and her work around mental health and violence against women has helped shape the world around her. Jenny is someone who sees the world a little differently than others. She thinks outside the box and in doing so she shows the world a whole new picture they would never have otherwise seen. Her creativity is shown through her love of painting, beading and working with her hands. A welder by trade, she worked with the Office to Advance Women Apprentices to help empower other women to explore the trades industry and offer them support and guidance on their career path. She is an inspiration to all women, and through her creativity and perseverance she colors the world with beauty and life.
