DEE DEE VOISEY
Peer Facilitator
Hailing from the beautiful big land of Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL, DeeDee works as the Public Health Nurse for Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation. DeeDee is a strong, determined force in community and has a passion for helping others. DeeDee is a pillar of strength who is focused and set on affecting positive change and does so with skill and organization. She is a teacher, a problem solver and a compassionate leader that puts her whole heart into everything that she does. DeeDee is passionate about her role as a Peer Facilitator with the Empowering Indigenous Women for Stronger Communities project and believes in the power of culture and tradition as a means to help in the battle on mental illness and violence against women. DeeDee led a drum dance circle as one of her community workshops sending a message of hope and reassurance that culture is at the core of all things well and good. DeeDee’s beautiful spirit shines through with her million dollar smile and sparkle in her eyes. She is a true treasure. A proud Mom and Wife, DeeDee juggles family life and her busy career, but also understands the importance of keeping a balance within herself. She is a crafter and skilled beader and brings true meaning to the statement that “Beading is Medicine”. DeeDee’s skills, professionalism and willingness to share in her own pain and struggles to help others rise above are the qualities that we admire most about her. Kind, courageous and thoughtful, we thank her for her selflessness and service to community in her professional life as well as for her dedication to our most important mission – Empowering Indigenous Women for Stronger Communities.
